Suspect in Holland Murder Filed for Divorce Day Before Incident

HOLLAND — According to records of the Hampden County Probate and Family Court, a Jonathan Kastberg filed for divorce from a Janet Lynne Kastberg Thursday, June 28, 2018. The Jonathan Kastberg listed in the filing as the plaintiff has a date of birth in 1943. The defendant, Janet Lynne Kastberg, was born in 1958.

The Hampden District Attorney’s office identified a suspect and the victim of a homicide that occurred Friday, June 29 on Brimfield Road in Holland. The victim was Ms. Janet Kastberg, age 60. The suspect, Jonathan Kastberg, age 75, is now in custody. He is expected to be arraigned on Monday in Palmer District Court. According to a press release by the office of Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni, officers responded to an incident at 254 Brimfield Road at about 5:43 p.m. June 29.  Ms. Kastberg was pronounced dead on the scene.

Upon arrival, Holland Police discovered a female victim who was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS personnel. Mr. Kastberg was on the scene when the officers arrived and he was charged with Murder and Violation of an Abuse Prevention Order.
