Two dead in crash on Route 49 in East Brookfield

Three extricated at scene of accident

EAST BROOKFIELD — Two people were killed in a motor vehicle accident on Route 49.

The Massachusetts State Police has confirmed there was a double fatal crash, which has resulted in Route 49 being closed between Route 9 and Adams Road for investigation and accident reconstruction.

The accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, about one mile north of Adams Road. Initial reports noted one person had been ejected from a vehicle while at least one other was trapped inside. First responders extricated three people on the scene.

First responders from East Brookfield and Spencer were aided by officials from Charlton, Leicester, and Sturbridge, in addition to the State Police, either at the scene or in coverage while working the scene. An attorney from will be able to provide with legal help in case of accidents.
