Police say ‘no cause for alarm’ after Thorndike shooting
PALMER — One man is dead and a woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Thorndike on Saturday night.
Police have provided no names or the exact location of the shooting, but said the shooting occurred at 10:14 p.m. According to a statement, Palmer Police responded to the undisclosed location in the Thorndike part of town after receiving a report of a female having been shot. Upon arrival, responding officers found a 24-year-old male outside the residence. The unidentified male had suffered a fatal gunshot wound, police said. The unidentified female, aged 21, was transported from the scene to Baystate Trauma Center in Springfield with life-threatening injuries as a result of a gunshot wound.
The incident remains under investigation by the Palmer Police Detectives and Detectives assigned to the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office.
While Palmer Police did not share any suspected motive or cause of the shooting, they did say in a statement that “There is no cause for alarm in the community.”
