‘Bank employees were shaken,’ but no injuries reported
LEICESTER — Local law enforcement is seeking the public’s help as it investigates a Thursday evening bank robbery.
According to the Leicester Police Department, officers responded to a report of a bank robbery at the South Main Street branch of Cornerstone Bank around 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12.
The suspect had already fled the area on foot with an unknown amount of money, and witnesses reported the suspect was of medium build and wore a black shirt, black bandana, black hat, and black gloves.
According to a statement released by the Leicester Police Department within a few hours of the alleged bank robbery, an environmental police K-9 unit tracked to an area where the suspect may have entered a motor vehicle as part of their escape. Officers and detectives canvassed the area while the crime scene was being processed, police said.
Police report surveillance video from the surrounding area is being reviewed as the investigation continues.
“Bank employees were shaken, but no physical injuries were reported,” read the police statement.
