Boys Basketball: Division 3
All eight Division 3 quarterfinal teams were on the court on Saturday, and the final four are set.
The top-seeded Tyngsborough Tigers picked up another win, topping the Gardner Wildcats 51-42 in a 5 p.m. tip-off at Tyngsborough High School.
The fifth-seeded Northbridge Rams fell 65-57 to the Blackstone-Millville Chargers in a 5:30 p.m. game at Blackstone-Millville Regional High School.
Tyngsborough will take on the Chargers on Tuesday night at Clark University’s Kneller Athletic Center in Worcester. That semifinal game is slated for a 7:45 p.m. tip-off.
The second-seeded Sutton Sammies hosted the seventh-seeded Nipmuc Warriors on Saturday night, with Sutton advancing after a 62-57 win.
The eleventh-seeded Bellingham Hawks hit the road for a quarterfinals contest against the third-seeded Whitinsville Christian Crusaders. In the end, Bellingham was eliminated from the tournament, falling 58-44.
Sutton will take on Crusaders at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the Division 3 semifinals at the Kneller Athletic Center.
Boys Basketball: Division 4
While the other quarterfinal games were played on Thursday night, the only Division 4 game on the docket for Saturday was the second-seeded Assabet Valley Aztecs hosting the tenth-seeded Abby Kelley Bears. The Aztecs picked up a 73-65 win, putting them into the semifinals where they’ll take on the third-seeded Maynard Tigers at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Harrington Auditorium at 6 p.m. on Monday. That game will lead into the night’s other Division 4 semifinals matchup as the thirteenth-seeded Southbridge Pioneers try to beat the odds in a 7:45 p.m. game against the top-seeded Worcester Tech Eagles.
Girls Basketball: Division 4
All eight Division 4 quarterfinal teams were on the court on Saturday, and the final four are set.
The top-seeded Blackstone Valley Beavers knocked off the Whitinsville Christian Crusaders with a 50-43 win at home, securing their spot in the semifinals.
In a contest scheduled for the court at Shirley Junior High School, fourth-seeded Parker Charter Panthers defeated the twelfth-seeded Advanced Math & Science Academy squad, 37-31. The Panthers will take on the Beavers in the semifinals at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Harrington Auditorium.
The second-seeded Greater Lowell Gryphons squared off with the seventh-seeded Maynard Tigers at Greater Lowell Tech. In the end, it was Maynard coming away with a 56-46 victory.
In Fitchburg, it was the third-seeded Monty Tech Bulldogs topping the eleventh-seeded University Park Campus team out of Worcester, 40-36. The Bulldogs and Tigers will play at Harrington Auditorium at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
