Bronx man arrested in Sturbridge for suspected heroin trafficking

State Police K-9 involved in Route 84 arrest

STURBRIDGE — Massachusetts State Police arrested a New York man for allegedly trafficking in heroin on Route 84 over the weekend.

Feidel Bautista, 33, of the Bronx, was behind the wheel of a 2015 Infiniti Q40 when he was stopped by State Police Troopers Carly Muscaro and James Farrell on the eastbound side of Route 84 around 8:10 a.m. on Saturday.

In a statement released on Monday afternoon, State Police reported Bautista “was determined to have a revoked Massachusetts driver’s license.” State Police also affirmed that Bautista’s statements about the owner of the Infiniti Q40 and where the car was heading “seemed to lack veracity.”

After Bautista was placed under arrest for operating with a revoked license, State Police Trooper Scott Davis and K-9 CAIRO conducted a search of the vehicle. State Police reported the search resulted in the discovery of “a large quantity” of what law enforcement believes to be heroin.

“The dog positively alerted on an area of the vehicle and further search revealed a hidden compartment with a large quantity of a substance believed to be heroin secreted inside,” State Police reported.

Bautista was subsequently charged with trafficking in heroin. He was held on $25,000.00 bail pending his arraignment in Dudley District Court on Monday.
