WORCESTER — In a field of ten, only two are left, and they’re the two most expected to see remaining. The Marlborough Panthers and Shepherd Hill Rams will square off on Saturday night in the Central Division 2 boys basketball title game after both teams picked up convincing wins on Tuesday night.
In a semifinals double-header at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Harrington Auditorium, Shepherd Hill defeated the Westboro Rangers in a rematch of the Clark Tournament finals. As was the case in that invitational tournament, the Rams came out on top, picking up a 76-58 win on Tuesday. Marlborough followed up with a big win of their own, topping the fifth-seeded Milford Hawks, 67-41.
Marlborough and Shepherd Hill will play for the title at Harrington Auditorium on Saturday at 6:45 p.m.
WORCESTER — The top-seeded Tyngsborough Tigers were knocked out of the district hoops tournament, leaving the Sutton Sammies and Blackstone-Millville Chargers to play for the Central Division 3 finals this weekend.
Tyngsborough fell to the fourth-seeded Chargers, 40-37, in a low-scoring contest at Clark University’s Kneller Athletic Center on Tuesday night.
In earlier action at the Kneller Athletic Center, second-seeded Sutton squeaked by the third-seeded Whitinsville Christian Crusaders, 63-59.
The D3 championship game will be played at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Harrington Auditorium on Saturday at 3:15 p.m.
