68-year-old man killed in Monson car crash

Residents tried to help victim after vehicle struck a small tree

MONSON — A 68-year-old man has died after an early afternoon accident on Wood Hill Road.

The Monson Police Department reported the man, whose name and town of residence was not released, was killed after his vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a small tree. The accident occured on Wood Hill Road, resulting in the temporary closure of the road between T Peck Road and Cote Road.

Police said they responded to the scene at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Thursday, with two residents already tending to the unresponsive driver. The victim was the lone occupant of the vehicle, according to police.

First responders attempted to resuscitate the man, who was taken to Wing Hospital and pronounced dead.

“Our thoughts go out to the driver’s family on their loss,” noted the Monson Police Department in a social media post.
