AUBURN — Virginia “Ginger” A. (Doucimo) Roy, 75, of Auburn died peacefully at home on Friday, October 12, with her loving family at her side. She shared 51 years with her late beloved husband, Raymond Roy.
Ginger is survived by her children, Anthony Roy and his longtime partner Connie O’Malley of Auburn, Regina Monopoli and her husband Louis of Worcester, Rebecca Duquette and her husband Stephen of Auburn, Veronica Hachey and her husband Scott of Charlton; siblings Joan Falcone and her husband Larry, Pasquale Doucimo and his wife Beverly. She was the proud grandmother to Anthony Roy (who passed on October 8, 2018), Sara Villegas and her husband Luigi, Samatha Roy, Paige Monopoli, Julia Duquette, Lauren Duquette, Molly Hachey, and Aiden Hachey. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Gabrielle Villegas, Luigi Villegas, Jr., and Vincent Roy.
Ginger was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sara (Borbone) Doucimo of Worcester where she was born and raised. She graduated from the Worcester Fanning Girls Trade School and dedicated her career to working as a teacher’s aide for the Worcester Public School System. She retired in 2005.
More than anything in the world, Ginger adored and treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to sing, laugh, craft, cook, and play with each and every one of them. They were the capstone of her life, and her family was her pride and joy. Ginger also loved spending time in Maine by the ocean, sand between her toes, admiring the Nubble Light House. If she couldn’t be at the beach, she enjoyed listening to the Italian music and delicious food at Constantino’s on Federal Hill. She will be sorely missed, especially around her favorite time of year, Christmas. Her family will be raising an extra “Ginger Jello Shot” this season to celebrate her kind, genuine, feisty, and unforgettable personality. As Frank Sinatra would say, Ginger did it her way.
A heartfelt thank you to all the angels of Notre Dame Hospice; in particular Athena, Colleen, and Jill. The family would also like to thank one very special angel, Diana.
Honoring her request, her family will hold services in private with the assistance of Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn.
