Richard “Dick” C. Rondeau, 75

PALMER — Richard “Dick” C. Rondeau, 75, died peacefully on August 8, at his home surrounded by the love and care of his family.

Born October 27, 1942 in Palmer, he was the son of Alvin “Mike” Rondeau and Nora (Tyburski) Rondeau. A lifelong resident of Palmer, he was a graduate of Palmer High School and Northampton Commercial College, 1962. He and his wife, the late Carol (Slowick) Rondeau were high school sweethearts and were the class couple, marrying on November 30, 1963. She predeceased him in May 2018.

Dick was a member of the Air National Guard in the early 60s. He owned Farm Fresh Dairy Shops in Three Rivers, Belchertown, and Monson from 1970 to the late 80’s. He was best known for his history at Rondeau’s Dairy Bar in Palmer and as ice purveyor at the Big E for the past 25 years. He was a member of the New England Ice Cream Association, Palmer Council Knights of Columbus, a member and on the board of Quaboag Chamber of Commerce and a founding member of the Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce.

He will be deeply missed by his four children, Michael Rondeau and girlfriend Noreen Martin of Palmer, Rachael Rondeau of Ware, Michelle Rondeau of Palmer, and Christopher Rondeau, his wife Cheryl and grandsons Brandon and Nathan of Simpsonville, SC. He also leaves his nephew Matthew Rondeau of New Hampshire. Additionally, a dear exchange student Veronica Caballero of Las Palmas, Spain, and grand dog Scooter survive him.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Baystate VNA and Hospice for their care during Dick’s final days.

Funeral Services will be held at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St, (Rte. 20) on Monday, August 13 at 10 a.m. followed by burial in St. Anne Cemetery in Three Rivers.
