SOUTHBRIDGE — Nick B. Wood, 50, of Old Dudley Rd., passed away on Thursday, March 25, in the Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge, after a sudden illness.
He leaves his wife of 20 years, Natalie J. (LaBonte) Wood; his two sons, Cody Wood and Owen Wood, both of Southbridge; his two stepsons, Corey Savoie of Northbridge and Ryan Savoie of Southbridge; his Mother, Nola Ruel of Sturbridge; his father, Larry Wood of Southbridge; his sister, Erika LaChance and her husband Bill of Dudley; his granddaughter and ‘Pretty Princess’, Gabriella Savoie; his in-laws, Fred and Joanne LaBonte of Southbridge; several nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was born in Southbridge on Feb. 22, 1971. Nick served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Gulf War (Desert Storm).
Nick worked as a Union Carpenter for many years. He later worked for Casella Waste Systems before retiring due to illness. He was a passionate softball player, playing in the Southbridge Softball League and travel leagues. He coached Little League Baseball in Southbridge and was a coach for Southbridge Pop Warner Football. Nick also was an assistant baseball coach for Becker College. Nick’s other interests included fishing, bowling, and being an avid golfer.
A funeral Mass for Nick will be held on Tuesday, April 6, at 11:00am in Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 446 Main St., Southbridge. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 5, from 5:00 to 7:00pm in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge.
