SOUTHBRIDGE — Dorothy (Lapery) Christo, 94, passed away in the Holy Trinity Nursing Home, Worcester, after a long illness.
Her husband, Christi T. Christo, passed away in 1986 and her son, Thomas K. Christo, passed away in 2008. She leaves her son, Kevin N. Christo of Southbridge; her daughter-in-law, Ellen V. Christo of Hampton Falls, NH; four grandchildren, Courtney Rupp of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Thomas K. Christo, Jr. of San Clemente, Calif., Alexandra Christo of Hampton Falls, NH and Charlotte Christo of Hampton Falls, NH; a great grandson, Benjamin Rupp; and nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Brigadier General, James Lapery, and her two sisters, Olga Lambert and Mary Lambro. She was born in Worcester the daughter of Kosmo and Alexandra (Zoto) Lapery.
Dorothy was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Albanian Church in Southbridge and was a member of its Daughters of St. Nicholas Society. She was a great cook and baker, especially when she made the traditional Albanian dishes. Dorothy enjoyed going to the casino and loved to travel, enjoying trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, California and Florida. Most of all her family gave her the greatest joy in life.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 5, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a service at 11 a.m. in St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church,126 Morris St., Southbridge. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Southbridge. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Sunday, March 4, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
