“Detectives/Officers later determined that both male subjects were armed with knives and had been involved in an altercation on Mechanic Street during which time they had repeatedly stabbed each other.”
SOUTHBRIDGE — On Saturday, June 23, at approximately 2:30 am officers were dispatched to the Mechanic Street area to investigate the report of a stabbing and alleged shooting that had just occurred. Upon arrival on scene, officers located a male subject in the roadway bleeding from what appeared to be multiple stab wounds throughout his body. Officers also observed what appeared to be multiple BB’s embedded in the skin of the male subject. An ambulance was requested and members of the Fire Department arrived on scene within minutes to render medical aid to the male subject who was transported to the emergency room at Harrington Memorial Hospital to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Our Detectives were requested to assist as well as a member of the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit – Worcester.
During further investigation, Detectives/Officers learned there was a second male stabbing victim being treated at Harrington Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and that this male subject was also involved in the altercation on Mechanic Street. But, this male subject had been transported from the scene in a motor vehicle by friends prior to police arrival.
Detectives/Officers later determined that both male subjects were armed with knives and had been involved in an altercation on Mechanic Street during which time they had repeatedly stabbed each other.
It was reported that a third male subject (not believed to have been involved in the stabbing) was in possession of silver BB gun (NO FIREARM was used during this incident despite reports) and had allegedly shot one of the male subjects several times while they were assaulting each other with knives.
Both of the male subjects were later transported to UMASS Medical Center in Worcester, MA for further medical treatment. This investigation is on-going by our Detective Division and the names of the three involved parties will not be released until the conclusion of this investigation.
