SPENCER – A photograph taken at Wire Village Elementary School in Spencer was featured in the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Weekly Commissioner’s Report. The photograph was provided by the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District and shows a colorful display that greeted students on the first day of school, Aug. 28, 2018.

The Commissioner’s Weekly Report is sent to educators, media and other interested parties across Massachusetts by email. It normally contains five to six updates about Massachusetts public education along with a recent photo from one school district in the state. Previous editions of the weekly update can be found at the DESE website.

The photo was shared with a “welcome back” message to students in the Commonwealth and wishes for “cooler days ahead” after many students in the state returned to school the last week of August, with soaring temperatures.
