SOUTHBRIDGE – The Southbridge Democratic Town Committee recently announced their endorsement of John Daniel and Michael Marketti for three-year seats on the Town Council. Daniel and Marketti are competing in a crowded field of 7 candidates vying for three open seats.

In the committee’s press release, they stated that “the town committee feels strongly that these candidates will advocate for investments in our educational system, support our emergency services and push for further investments in our infrastructure and economic development. Both candidates wish to bring a new face and fresh perspective to the board.”

The Town committee has also endorsed Martena Shea who is running unopposed for School Committee.

The Republican Town Committee has not endorsed any candidates. According to Secretary of the Committee, Bob Chernisky, “We give our members freedom to support whomever they will since these are nonpartisan elections.”

The local election will take place Tuesday, June 12.
