Southbridge Local Election: Letter from Jacquelyn Ryan

Good Evening,

My name is Jacquelyn Ryan and I am running as a write-in candidate for a three (3) year seat on the Southbridge Town Council.

I moved to Southbridge 3 & 1⁄2 years ago and everyday my love for this community continues to grow. I currently live on Marcy Street and work as a Unit Secretary/Nursing Assistant at Southbridge Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. I also currently serve as the Chairwoman of the Southbridge School Committee, sit on the Bay Path Regional Vocational School Committee representing Southbridge, and sit on the General Subcommittee of the Southbridge Town Council as a citizen member.

I am running for the Town Council because I believe the best days for Southbridge lie ahead and strongly believe that a unified council is a necessity to achieve this bright future. We have key challenges we have to overcome in our community. Our roads need some heavy investment, our fire department needs and deserves a new fire station, and we need to do more to support our schools at this critical juncture.

None of this is easy or cheap; I realize this. This is why we need a council that will work with our business community to incentivize businesses to relocate to our community and will support the expansion of our local businesses. This will add to our local economy and also in turn create good, local jobs. I also support the repeal of the Ban on Adult Use Marjuana businesses in our community. Again, this will add jobs and revenues to our community and put Southbridge on the forefront of a new and booming industry. All this new and expanding revenue will help us make these tough but necessary investments our community needs; instead of just raising property owner tax rates.

In closing, I am running as a write-in candidate for a three (3) year seat on the Southbridge Town council because I believe our best days are ahead of us. I chose to move here and want Southbridge to be a community that in the next twenty-thirty years, continues to be a community that I am proud to live in.

Thank you and I ask that you please write my name in for a three (3) year seat on the Southbridge Town Council on June 11, 2019.
