CHARLTON — The Department of Public Health has informed local officials of a second confirmed case of COVID-19 in this town.

Town Administrator Andrew Golas announced the development on Friday afternoon in a press release. Local residents are urged to continue to be vigilant in precautions such as social distancing.

“Please continue to protect yourself by following public health advice about keeping your hands clean, and covering coughs and sneezes,” Golas said. “Stay home if you are sick and protect others who are most at risk of COVID-19 by keeping your distance from people (at least 6 feet away from others), especially those who are older, and people living with chronic health conditions.”

Golas said the Charlton Board of Health continues to work with the Department of Public Health to ensure any potential exposure risks are appropriately identified and notified. Those who believe they may have been exposed, or are showing symptoms of the coronavirus, are encouraged to contact their physician.
