Musical runs late September at Stageloft
STURBRIDGE — Later this month, Fiskdale will be highlighting a little white trash on stage.
Stageloft Repertory Theater, 450A Main Street, Fiskdale, is pleased to announce it’s September Production, The Great American Trailer Park Musical. Music and lyrics by David Nehls, Book by Betsy Kelso.
From September 14-30, performances will be held at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. This production is directed by Brian Kelly, music direction by Leah Marley, with choreography by Daniel Sullivan. The show is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.
The story has, at its center, a love triangle between an agoraphobe, a highway toll collector and an exotic dancer with an unhinged ex-boyfriend. A Greek-chorus-eque trio of trailer park women helps guide the narrative, playing any character or gender they choose while breaking the fourth wall at whim to air their own dirty laundry. The result is a sense of informality and community — the lifeblood of neighborhoods everywhere.
More than a decade after its New York premiere, The Great American Trailer Park Musical continues to connect with audiences. Beyond the broad comedy and Jerry Springer-worthy confrontations, the show is about rising above our impulses, our mistakes and our surroundings to make a future we can believe in despite the past.
The show stars Cheryl Duggin, Mike Loparmardo, Jami Wilson, Andrew Bigelow, Robyn Scott, Tracy Martino, and Morgan Doherty.
Tickets are $20 Regular Admission, $17 for Seniors (60+), Students (12 and up) and U.S. Military and Veterans. Due to content this production is not recommended for children. For more information or to reserve tickets, call 508-347-9005 or visit www.stageloft.org.
