Sturbridge Resident Named to the MSCPA’s 2020 Women to Watch List

STURBRIDGE – Chelsea Cox, MSA was selected as a 2020 Women to Watch Award winner by the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA), the professional association of certified public accountants, representing over 11,000 members. The awards recognize women who have made outstanding contributions to the accounting profession, their communities, their firms or companies and to the development of women as leaders.

Cox, senior associate at Meyers Brother Kalicka, P.C., is one of seven women selected to receive a 2020 Women to Watch Award. She was selected in the Emerging Leader category, reserved for professionals with 15 years of experience or less. Awards are also presented in the Experienced Leader category, which is reserved for women with more than 15 years in the accounting industry.

“The MSCPA is proud to recognize the accomplishments of these remarkable women, and we’re looking forward to honoring Chelsea for her outstanding contributions to her peers, her community and the profession,” said Amy Pitter, president and CEO of the MSCPA.

Cox works diligently to develop competencies in all areas of the firm’s audit and accounting practice, including commercial audits, employee benefit plan audits and nonprofit entity engagements. Additionally, she is the champion and spearhead for the firm’s community service program, which offers firm-wide monthly community service opportunities for professionals.

Active in her profession, Cox serves as a mentor to junior staff at the firm and as a mentor in partnership with Westfield State University. Furthermore, she serves as a firm ambassador at the MSCPA and is a member of the MSCPA’s Accounting & Auditing Committee, Women in Accounting Committee and the Young Professionals Advisory Group.

“Chelsea plays a key role in several divisions of the firm and goes above and beyond for her clients and peers,” said Howard Cheney, CPA, MST, partner at Meyers Brothers Kalicka, P.C. “Because of her drive and ambition, she has achieved several personal and professional accomplishments at such an early stage of her career and is more than deserving of this award.”

Award winners will be honored on October 28 at the MSCPA’s Women’s Leadership Virtual Summit.
