Judo, Watercolors, Yoga, and more at Hitchcock Free Academy

BRIMFIELD — The Hitchcock Free Academy is offering a number of events and classes next week.

Monday, April 30

Sen-I Judo Club — This course runs all year long and is well suited for all levels of practitioners including beginners. Call Sensei Israel Lopez 413-279-4330 for more information.

Weight Watchers — Angela Kramer leads local Weight Watchers meetings with weigh-ins and registrations at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting beginning at 6 p.m. Visit www.weightwatchers.com to become a member or to learn more about Weight Watchers.

Yoga with Sharon (Hatha) — Discover the benefits of stress-relieving Hatha Yoga. Relax and rejuvenate with postures and guided meditation to restore the body. Bring a mat and wear comfortable clothing. The six classes run from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. and the course is $65. Sharon Palmer M.Ed., Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor runs the course.

Tuesday, May 1

Art Group — Participants enjoy time to socialize, draw and paint together informally without instruction. No pre-registration required. Bring your own supplies and enjoy! Free will donations are welcome. Time: 9 to 11:30 a.m. Contact Hitchcock at 413-245-9977 for more information.

Valley Gives Day — Online fundraising event as you can join the Pioneer Valley in giving to charitable organizations by donating online to support Hitchcock Free Academy in the goal.

Wednesday, May 2

Watercolors With Beth — Ongoing watercolor classes for all levels with a new painting every three weeks. You must register with instructor Beth Parys in advance to attend. Classes run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and costs $17 per week, plus supplies. For more information and to register, call Beth at 413-245-3295.

Thursday, May 3

Violin/Viola With Linda — Ongoing private violin or viola lessons offered by Linda Day. Linda enjoys teaching all ages and levels, and offers a variety of musical styles to suit the interests of her students. Please note, children ages 5-7 must be accompanied by an adult and you must fill out a consent form for students under 18. The six classes are 30 minutes each, scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. The course is $148.

Friday, May 4

Alcoholics Anonymous — Traditional open AA meeting in a friendly setting at 7:30 p.m.. Come early to chat and share in refreshments.

Friends & Family Friday — Join Marcia Beal in making a delicate birch bark basket perfect for freshly picked spring bouquets. All ages welcome. Registration required. Sponsored by the McCurdy Group. Session runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at $6 per person with a $30 maximum per household.

Watercolors With Anna — Create a watercolor with a teapot and lovely spring arrangement. Bring your own 9″x12″ 140 lbs. watercolor paper, frisket with ugly brush, white watercolor paint, greens and your supply of paints. Teapots will be available to draw ,or bring your own favorite. Brushes including a small fan brush, spray bottle, paper towels, brushes, you may or not want to use a table easel, a brown bag lunch, and laughter. Session runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Anna Ozolins is the instructor and the session costs $45 per person.

Saturday, May 5

Farmers Market — Brimfield’s weekly farmers market, now in its 12th year. Stop by and browse a selection of locally grown and made products from baked goods, produce, and flowers to soaps and more. The farmers market is every Saturday through October 27, except during the Brimfield Antiques Show, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
