Actors sought for production of “Barefoot in the Park”
SOUTHBRIDGE — Gateway Players Theatre, Inc. will kick off Season 45 with auditions for “Barefoot in the Park,” by Neil Simon, on December 11 and 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Fellowship hall of Elm Street Congregational Church, 61 Park Street.
Men and women, ages 18-plus, are needed for this February comedy. Mary Gahagan is directing, with Barbara Day as producer, and Erin Morin as stage manager. Auditions consist of cold readings from the script.
Synopsis: Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. After a six day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic Velasco, where everything that can go wrong, does. Characters include the newlywed couple, mother, neighbor and repairman.
This production is presented with permission of Samuel French Inc. Gateway Players had been located at the Arts Barn of Ruth Wells Center for the Arts, until structural damage required a change in venue. Auditions are open to all and new members are always welcome.
