Webster man held without bail after Auburn Mall stabbing

Dangerousness hearing set for next week

WORCESTER — A Webster man was held without bail at his arraignment after he allegedly stabbed a man at the Auburn Mall on Friday evening.

Yohance L. Jones, 19, of Webster, was arraigned in Central District Court in Worcester on Monday morning, according to the Auburn Police Department, and ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for July 21.

Jones was arrested on Sunday, roughly 48 hours after the stabbing occurred in the vicinity of the shopping mall’s food court shortly after 6:00 p.m. He has been charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

On Friday, the victim had been transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and listed in critical condition. Auburn Police Chief Andrew Sluckis told the media on Friday evening his department “received numerous 911 calls”
