SOUTHBRIDGE — A pair of local men were arrested recently when local law enforcement executed a search warrant at a West Street apartment.
According to a press release issued by the Southbridge Police Department on Monday evening, the arrest of Luis Montalvo and Angel Barbosa-Castillo occurred on the evening of June 11. The arrests occurred at 59B West Street, the residence of Barbosa-Castillo, aged 29. Montalvo, 28, resides on Cournoyer Boulevard in Southbridge.
Police said the search warrant had been obtained after an ongoing investigation into the alleged illegal sale of narcotics. As a result of the search, approximately 28 grams of suspected cocaine packaged for distribution, an amount of suspected heroin, a digital scale, more than $500 in U.S. currency, and various packaging materials and cut corner baggies were recovered, according to police. Authorities believe the currency is suspected to have been proceeds from the ongoing trafficking and sale of narcotics.
Montalvo was charged with trafficking in cocaine, while Barbosa-Castillo was charged with distribution of heroin. Both men were transported to the police station, where they held pending their arraignment in Dudley District Court.
