State Police recover stolen SUV, large amount of cocaine

STURBRIDGE — Massachusetts State Police recovered a stolen vehicle and a large amount of cocaine on Route 84 on Friday afternoon.

Trooper Scott Shea was patrolling Route 84 East when, at approximately 1:40 p.m., he observed a gray Ford Explorer traveling in the center lane. According to a State Police press release, Trooper Shea queried the vehicle’s registration and learned it had been reported stolen in New York last month.

Trooper Shea, assisted by Trooper Sergio Figueiredo, stopped the vehicle over just prior to Exit 2 in Sturbridge. The vehicle was driven by Candice Elliott, 34, of Laurelton, N.Y., and passengers Crystal Giles, 26, of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Carl Francois, 30, of Elmont, N.Y. As a result of an investigation and search of the vehicle 1,050 grams of cocaine was located.

All three occupants of the vehicle were placed under arrest and transported to the Sturbridge Barracks where they booked and held pending bail of $10,000. All three occupants were charged with trafficking in cocaine, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and possession to distribute cocaine.
