SOFTBALL: Bay Path 13, Abby Kelly 2
The Bay Path softball team opened its season with a 13-2 road victory over Abby Kelley Foster on Wednesday afternoon.
Kathryn Ryan, a junior, struck out 11 over six solid innings for the Minutemen, holding the Bears to two hits and one earned run over her time on the slab. Her counterpart, Abby Kelley Foster’s Shawna Corey, allowed 10 earned runs on 17 hits and one walk over seven innings, striking out five Bay Path batters.
Bay Path’s sophomore firstbaseman Emily Johnson led the offensive outburst, going 4-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, and four RBI. Catcher Devan Wetherbee, a junior, went 3-for-4 at the plate, with two stolen bases, two RBI, and three runs scored.
BASEBALL: Grafton 15, Southbridge 0
The Indians picked up a combined perfect game as pitchers Brady Smolinski and Brady Fontana kept the Pioneers off the bases all game long. Matt Holbrook went 2-for-2 with a double, triple, and three RBI.
BASEBALL: Shepherd Hill 0, Hudson 10
Noah Stuart led the Hawks with a strong performance against the visiting Rams, fanning nine over five innings while pounding the strike zone with nearly 70 percent of pitches going for strikes. Shepherd Hill was unable to figure Stuart out and struggled on defense, making a number of errors to help Hudson pad its lead.
BASEBALL: Northbridge 0, Auburn 3
Colin McKeon hit a clutch two-run double in the sixth inning and Joe Hopper closed out the ballgame for the Rockets.

SOFTBALL: Shepherd Hill 6, Hudson 10
In a game described as a “slugfest,” the Rams fell to the Hawks. Sophia Sciarappa picked up the 1,000th hit of her high school career in the Shepherd Hill loss.
