LEICESTER — A sizeable marijuana growing operation hidden within a local residence was taken down by authorities last Thursday.
While executing a search warrant, more than 200 marijuana plants were seized by the Leicester Police Department, along with cultivation equipment. Leicester Police announced the April 26 bust through its social media accounts on Monday afternoon, omitting the specific location of the residence or the identity of the individual arrested in connection to the growing operation.
The subject was charged with illegal cultivation of marijuana and three counts of illegal distribution of marijuana. The growing operation was not licensed through the State and was operating in violation of the limits set forth under the law for non-licensed or private cultivation operations, according to police.
Police also noted they uncovered a replica firearm “lying around in the home.”
