Portion of Main Street temporarily closed in Leicester
LEICESTER — Main Street motorists faced an extra challenge in their commutes on Thursday morning after a tractor trailer jackknifed.
According to the Leicester Police Department, a tractor trailer unit became stuck on Main Street, east of Washburn Square, after it had jackknifed while attempting to make a sharp turn onto an access road around 7 a.m. The truck was attempting to make a delivery at the time of the accident, and police reported there were no injuries as a result.
A portion of the roadway was shut down for approximately 45 minutes, police said, in order for a tow truck to separate the tractor from the trailer. Once separated, the rig was able to get back onto Main Street. Shortly after 9 a.m., police said the road had been reopened but urged caution while the trailer was being offloaded.
