Bicyclist came upon vehicle off the road on Route 19

WARREN — Police continue to investigate a fatal crash discovered by a bicyclist on Route 19 on Monday evening.
According to a press release issued by the Warren Police Department, the unidentified bicyclist was traveling Route 19, Brimfield Road in Warren, when “he had come across a vehicle off the road, and was unable to make contact with the driver.”
The bicyclist called 9-1-1, a call that reached the Rutland Regional Emergency Communications Center at approximately 6:23 p.m., police said. Members of Warren’s police, fire and EMS departments were dispatched to the scene, in the area of 1358 Brimfield Road. Acting Police Chief Gerald Millette, through a press release, said that upon arrival first responders “immediately determined the operator was deceased.”
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the Warren Police Department and Massachusetts State Police, and no speculation was offered as to how the vehicle ended up off of the road. In addition to local first responders and State Police, the Brimfield Police Department and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner assisted on scene. Authorities have not released the name of the individual killed in the crash as they work to properly notify family members.
“We would like to thank those involved with assisting, and our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the deceased,” Millette stated.
