CHARLTON — An unidentified motorist was taken to an area hospital after hitting a parked camper in a Route 20 parking lot on Tuesday evening.

The camper was parked near O’Malley’s Truck & Auto Body, 425 Worcester Road, when a sedan apparently pulled through the parking lot and hit the camper, according to a report from the Charlton Police Department. The accident, which occurred shortly after 6 p.m., resulted in both vehicles igniting in flames, according to authorities. Police noted the investigation is in “its initial stages.”

The driver of the sedan was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police did not release the name of the motorist or the owner of the camper.
