AUBURN — The Rockets rebounded from a loss last time out to defeat a struggling Quaboag Cougars on Friday night.
Cam Bolduc and Matty Backlin led the Rockets offense, combining for nearly as many points as the entire roster of their guests at Auburn High School. Bolduc paced the team with 15 points while Backlin added 12 points of his own. Max Joncas chipped in with nine points, while Craigon Confer and Coleman Picard had six points each for Auburn.
Quaboag struggled throughout the game, including a third quarter in which the only basket came on a Zach McCann three-pointer. McCann led the Cougars offense with nine points while Brian Trembly was right behind with eight points. Quaboag’s scoring may have been thin, but it was spread out around the floor as eight players were credited with points.
Auburn improved to 4-5 with the win, and is slated to hit the road for a Monday afternoon game at Dover-Sherborn at 1:00pm. Quaboag fell to 1-8 with the loss, but has time to regroup before their next scheduled game on Wednesday night when the Cougars host the Northbridge Rams at 6:30pm at Quaboag Regional High School in Warren.
