Minutemen clinch district berth
WORCESTER — The Bay Path Minutemen softball team is heading back to the district tournament, clinching a post-season spot with a 21-3 pounding against the Abby Kelley Foster Bears.
Bay Path pounded out 17 hits in the win, including a grand slam by freshman Lizzie McLam in the second inning. McLam would go 2-for-3 and score three runs in the game. Minutemen freshman Kyleigh Sutherland went 3-for-4 with a double, two steals, and three runs scored.
Katie Ryan picked up the win with a four-inning start on the pitcher’s rubber, yielding three earned runs while striking out six. The junior was followed by freshman hurler Sarah Gosselin, who worked the final inning of the mercy-rule victory.
