Beauregard twirls three-hit shutout against Rams
DUDLEY — Eddy Beauregard was dominant on the bump Monday afternoon, blanking the Shepherd Hill Rams on their own turf in a 7-0 win for the Wachusett Mountaineers.
Beauregard surrendered just three hits while fanning six in a complete game shutout, issuing no walks. He hit one batter, Mick Sullivan, in the first inning. Beauregard gave up two of his three hits in the second inning before sending down nine Rams batters in a row.
Offensively, Wachusett’s Liam Griffin matched Shepherd Hill’s offensive output, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and scoring a run. Beauregard chipped at the plate as well, picking up a single, drawing a first inning walk, scoring a run, and knocking another in on a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. Mountaineers rightfielder Francis Ferguson scored a pair of runs as well.
Jake Schafer took the loss for Shepherd Hill, charged with five runs, three earned, on five hits, five walks, and one hit batter over six-plus innings. He struck out four Wachusett hitters. Jacob Murphy wrapped up the seventh inning for the Rams, but not before giving up two earned runs on a hit and three walks. Shepherd Hill fell to 4-6 with the loss.
