PALMER — Roger E. Woods, 56, passed away unexpectedly on April 14.

Born January 8, 1962 in Southbridge, he was the son of Walter E. and Eda Jean (Burrows) Woods. Roger has lived in Palmer since 1985. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for five years. As a licensed land surveyor in both Massachusetts and Connecticut, he was self employed and has been a surveyor since 1985.

Roger also enjoyed scuba diving, boating and most especially spending time with his family. He was an Eagle Scout and a volunteer fireman in Palmer. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 37 and a 1/2 years, Maria Rose “Rosi” Woods along with his two children, Jessica Lloyd and husband Joshua of Brimfield and Andrew Woods and wife Manik of Ludlow. He also leaves his granddaughter, Nora and two brothers, Robert Woods and his wife Debra of Palmer, ad Richard Woods of Fla. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 18 from 4-7 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Second Congregational Church with burial to follow in Holland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Shriner’s Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, or Palmer Fire Department.
