BROOKFIELD — Lucy (Burrows) Beeman, 95, passed away peacefully April 25.
She leaves behind her children Judith Hwalek and husband William, Sandra Germain and husband Paul, Harvey Beeman and wife Susan, Donald Beeman and wife Nancy, Cynthia Cooper, Patricia Beeman, Kathryn Carty and husband John, Russell Beeman and wife Rebecca, Thomas Beeman and wife Cherryl; a sister Ethel Dobias; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband for 50 years, George; her daughter Beverly; four sisters and one brother.
She was born in Greenfield on April 20, 1923.
Lucy’s greatest passions were her faith and her family. She was an active member of the East Brookfield Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for more than 60 years and served on the Board of Elders.
She enjoyed graciously opening her home to countless family gatherings. She was also an active volunteer throughout the years serving on, among other things, the Council on Aging, Tri-Valley Elder Services, VFW Auxiliary, Scout Leader for both Girl and Boy Scouts, and organized St Jude’s bike-a thons.
The funeral for Lucy will be held on Monday, April 30 at 2 p.m. in the East Brookfield Baptist Church 262 Main St., East Brookfield. A calling hour will be held from 1-2 p.m. in the church. Burial will follow in Brookfield Cemetery. Pillsbury Funeral Home 3 West Brookfield Rd., Brookfield, is directing arrangements.
