Johnny Blanton, Jr., 65

BROOKFIELD — Johnny Blanton, Jr., 65, passed away on January 19, 2021, in the comfort of his home. Johnny passed from a fast but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Johnny graduated class of 73 from Tantasqua High School. He was a basketball player throughout his high school years. He was also an avid hockey player and fan well into his adult life.

Johnny worked for many years at WD Matthews where he was loved by all that came in contact with him. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a lifetime member of the Spencer Fish and Game club. Johnny was also a lover of animals. He was also a proud Free Mason.

Johnny loved being around to help the area youth. He was a coach for many years in multiple sports, hockey, baseball, softball, and basketball. He dedicated many hours to Spencer Fish and Game’s fishing derbies over the years.

Johnny will be lovingly missed by his son Johnny Blanton III, and his wife Elizabeth of Spencer, his three sisters Rosemary Lozeau, and her husband Bill of New Ipswich, New Hampshire, Patricia Duhamel and her husband Dave of Charlton, and Darlene King of East Brookfield. He leaves his extended grandchildren Faith, the littlest Tom, and Skylar. His loving companion Donna Gorman. He leaves many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

The family would like to say thank you to Beacon Hospice for their compassion during this process.

A graveside service for Johnny will be held on Friday, January 22,2021 at 11AM in Brookfield Cemetery. The family will host a Celebration of Life for Johnny during the summer months. For those planning to attend the funeral service we would ask that if you have New England Sports Team attire that you wear it as Johnny was a true fan especially of the Bruins. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you make a donation to the Second Chance Animal Shelter PO Box 136, E.Brookfield, MA, 01515. Arrangements are under the care of Pillsbury Funeral Home, 3 West Brookfield Road, Brookfield.
