Jeanne Marchessault, 89

SOUTHBRIDGE — Jeanne Marchessault, 89, of Hamilton Street, passed away on Tuesday, March 9 at the Presentation Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center, in Brighton.

She leaves her beloved nephews, Eric Marchessault of Somerville, Robert Marchessault, of  Royal Palm Beach, FL; her brother, Richard Marchessault of Englewood, FL; nieces and nephews, Christopher Marchessault of Dudley, John Marchessault of Southbridge, James Roberts, Elaine Roberts, Lisa Roberts and Donald Roberts all of Charlton and Susan Lamprey of St. Mary’s Parish, GA; and most importantly, her much loved cat, Mia. Jeanne was predeceased by her mother and best friend, Bessie, sister, Pauline Roberts, and her two brothers, Robert and Edward. Jeanne was born in Southbridge, the daughter of John B. and Bessie (Duclos) Marchessault. 

Jeanne was dedicated to her family, particularly to her mother, who she never left her side, and her many cats she had over the years, the most recent being her peevish (not so) little Mia.

Jeanne worked at the American Optical Company for over 45 years before her retirement.  She was a member of Notre Dame Parish, now St. John Paul II Parish in Southbridge and she also attended St. Mary’s Church. 

The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Presentation Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Brighton for the outstanding care and compassion they gave to Jeanne over the past several months while she resided there.

A funeral Mass for Jeanne was held on Friday, March 12, in Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II Parish.  Burial was followed at New Notre Dame Cemetery in Southbridge.
