SOUTHBRIDGE — Janice L. (Plasse) LaBarge, 82, of Old Woodstock Rd., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 18, in the Vibra Hospital, Leicester, after a long illness.

Her husband of 51 years, Romeo LaBarge, Jr., died in 2010.  She leaves her six children, Clifford Fontaine and his wife Janis of Brookfield, Jane Guedel and her husband Tom of Tucson, AZ, Gary Fontaine and his wife Maria of Southbridge, Joel Fontaine and his partner Brett Canada of Tucson, AZ, James LaBarge and his husband Dave Deignan of Topanga Canyon, CA and Russell LaBarge and his wife Penny of Southbridge; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her stepfather who raised her, Clifford Reyor.  Janice was born in Southbridge the daughter of the late Raoul “Blackie” Plasse and Madeline (Bombard) Plasse Reyor.

Janice worked at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge for 30 years before retiring many years ago.  Janice loved to play cards and was an avid bowler and bowled in the couples’ league for many years.  She was at one time a CB radio enthusiast and her handle name was ‘Happy Days’.  Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Janice’s family would like to thank the staff at Vibra Hospital, especially Ann, Mary Ellen and April, for their kindness, care and compassion in their mother’s time of need.  They would also like to thank the staff of the Harrington Memorial Hospital ICU department and her daughter-in-law, Penny, for being her caregiver for many years.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, Feb. 23, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge.  Burial in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge, will be held at the convenience of the family.  Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
