WEST BROOKFIELD — Charles Kady Sr., 93, of West Brookfield, a decorated World War II Army Veteran of the Battle of the Bulge serving under General George Patton, awarded The Purple Heart and a Bronze Star recipient, died Monday March 5 at St. Vincent Hospital Worcester after a brief illness.
Born in Methuen he was the son of the late Shaker and Jamilee (Saffe) Kady. Charles was the husband of the late Eleanor M (Hashway) Kady who died in 2000. He leaves his wife Jocelyn (Berard) Wile. Charles is predeceased by his daughter Linda Lee in 2010 and his son Randal in 2006. He leaves two sons, Charles Jr. and his wife Amy, and Gary Kady, and his wife Sandy who pre-deceased him in 2017; three daughters, Charlotte Pine and her husband Lee, Cynthia and her husband John Whalen and Janice and her husband Ted O’Neill. He also leaves a sister Nellie Marinaro, 16 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.
Charles was predeceased by five siblings. Charles was well known as a builder. He established the well-known Kady Builders which he founded in 1945. Charles has raised up in his business several generations of builders in the family that continue the trade today. Charles was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Norwood and a former member of 1st Congregational Church in Spencer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 10 a.m. in Pillsbury Funeral Home 3 West Brookfield Rd. Brookfield. A calling hour will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
