Bronislawa (Gawel) Wrona, 97

SOUTHBRIDGE — Bronislawa (Gawel) Wrona, 97, of Dennison Dr., passed away on Sunday, July 29, in the UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester, after a long illness.

Her husband, John Wrona, passed away in 2001.  She leaves her two sons, Stanley Wrona and his wife Jane of Charlton and Jeff Wrona and his wife Jean of West Townsend; her daughter, Zofia Polakowski of Fiskdale; her sister, Genowefa Wiezbicka of Poland; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was born in Lubiczko, Poland, the daughter of Franczisek and Zofia (Dubiel) Gawel.

Bronislawa worked at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge for 24 years, retiring many years ago.  She was a member of the Pilsudski Polish American Citizens Club in Southbridge.  She enjoyed working in her yard and especially enjoyed working in her flower garden.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 2, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Hedwig’s Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, Everett St., Southbridge.  Burial will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery, Southbridge.  A calling hour in the funeral home will be held on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to the Mass.
