SOUTHBRIDGE — Albert A. Menard, Jr., 89, of Glenwood Ave., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, in the Lanessa Extended Care, Webster, after an illness.
He leaves his loving wife of 57 years, Theresa P. (Peck) Menard; a son, Mark A. Menard of Washington, DC; and a brother, Robert H. Menard of Sturbridge. Albert was predeceased by a brother, Richard S. Menard and his sister, Lorraine Cusick.
He was born in Worcester the son of Albert A. and Irene E, (St. Cyr) Menard, Sr.. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and Korea, after which he met his future wife Theresa.
Albert worked more than 30 years as an Assembler and in Final Inspection for General Motors in Framingham, retiring in 1989. He previously worked at Chapman Valve in Indian Orchard. Albert was a Scout Master for Troop 140 for many years. He was an active member of Notre Dame Parish, now St. John Paul II Parish, serving as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Lector, Parish Council member, taught CCD and marriage encounter. Albert also served as the Parish artist painting art on the parish paschal candles for the Easter season as well as restoring statutes for the church. He was a past President of AARP local Chapter 501 and Associate State Coordinator for community operations in Boston for AARP. Albert was PTA President for Notre Dame School. He was Co-founder of the Tri-Community, Tri Valley SALT Council which he held the first position as President of the council.
Albert originated Bio Grafted Portraiture with the first one being a portrait of President John F. Kennedy.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 446 Main St., Southbridge. Burial will follow in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge. A calling hour in the funeral home will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., prior to the Mass.
